Elizabeth White will discuss her book “Fifty-Five, Underemployed, and Faking Normal” on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m., at the kickoff event for the Center for Gerontology’s 2019 Holiday Camp for Seniors. The presentation is free and open to the public and will take place in Krentz Center, Room 120 on the University’s campus.

Concordia-Chicago to host annual Service of Lessons & Carols

河北快3平台网址Concordia University Chicago will present its annual Service of Lessons & Carols on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Our Lord. This service, which includes scripture readings, choral music and congregational singing, has become a traditional part of the Christmas preparation for hundreds of people in the Chicago area.

Student programming team places first in Chicago, improves national and world rankings

A team of Concordia University Chicago undergraduate students have come in first place in the Chicago IEEEXtreme 24-Hour Programming Competition, for the fourth time in five years. Their performance in the annual Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) contest placed them 10th in the United States and 140th河北快3平台网址 in the world—in the top 3 percent—out of 5,015 teams. Student teams from CUC captured the top three places among competitors from universities in and around Chicago.

Photogram exhibit opens Nov. 15 in Ferguson Art Gallery

The Ferguson Art Gallery at Concordia University Chicago presents “The Photogram—It’s Not an X-Ray!” by artist Dan Zamudio. The free exhibition is open to the public from Nov. 15 to Dec. 13. All are welcome to attend a reception with the artist in the gallery on Sunday, Nov. 24 from 2-4 p.m., with an artist’s talk at 3 p.m.

"Eurydice" opens Nov. 15 at Concordia-Chicago's Bergmann Theatre

The Collective at Concordia University Chicago presents “Eurydice” by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Stephanie Stroud. Performances will run Nov. 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 3 p.m. at the Bergmann Theatre on the University’s campus. The play is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatricals Company.

Guest lecturer to present “Arms, Apocalypse, and Apologetics” Nov. 11 at Concordia-Chicago

Dr. Adam S. Francisco will present “Arms, Apocalypse, and Apologetics: Luther's Response to the Ottoman Jihad in Europe” on Monday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. The guest lecture is open to the public and will take place in the Kretzmann Hall recital hall on the University’s campus, with a Q&A and a reception to follow.

Concordia-Chicago Wind Symphony and Kapelle to perform fall home concerts

The Kapelle will perform their home choral concert on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m., following a tour of Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. The free concerts will take place in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord.
